Counselor John Sanderson representing the Mayor of Brampton, Susan Fennell, gave the welcome speech to the attending delegations, players and teams.

Brampton Sept 07th 2013 - The first futsalon international tournament in the history of Canada was held on September 6 and7 at the Powerade Centre. Organized by the Canadian Futsalon Federación and its President Daniel Cerros, with proudness to be a pioneer on this kind of international events.

Karen Cerros, Canadian Futsalon Federación Executive Director, gave the opening speech of this great event and shortly after Counselor John Sanderson on behalf of the Mayor of Brampton, Susan Fennell, also gave a welcome speech to all participant delegations and teams. Then the national anthems were sang for each of the countries in attendance.

In attendance there were 13 national and provincial teams for 3 different divisions. In the Women división was Catalunya (Spain), the current World Champion, Canada National team, the All Stars Canadian team and the Ontario Provincial team. The Canada National Team is currentlly on training for the II Women World Cup in Barrancabermeja, Colombia on November 7-15 this year.

WOMEN TOURNAMENT

The Catalunya National Team took home the Champion cup after defeating the other 3 participant teams and after causing a great impression to the attending crowd by the high level of skills they showed durint this first international tournament organized by FUTSALCA.

Ana Munne, with only 16 years, was awarded the Most Valuable Player and the Top Scorer trophies. She was without doubts the best female player of this international tournmanet.

Catalunya National Team - First Place
Canadian National Team - Second Place
Ontario Provincial Team - Third Place
All Stars Canadian Team - Fourth Place

BOYS U-14 TOURNAMENT

Five teams participated on this tournament, and they played using the “ Round Robín“ mode, and they faced each other to decide the tournament champion by the team that had the higher number of points. The Canadian National Futsal Boys U-14 was the champion after finishing in the top of the standings table without beind losing any game. This team is also preparing for the Panamerican Tournament of Futsal to he held in Ciudad de Valera, Venezuela from October 14 to 21 this year.

This división had the attractive to have the team representing the Brazil National Team ( St Francis School ) and its main star is Ronald De Lima Domínguez, son of the great former brazilian striker ‘RONALDO”, whom, even though been just 13 years-old, showed great level of skills and has a big future as a futsal player. Also in attendance was the USA National Team, leaving also a nice impression along with the the Provincial Team of New Brunswick and the Ontarion Provincial Team.

The captain of the Canadian National Team, ADAM PARDA, took the MVP trophy and the brazilian player RONALD DE LIMA DOMINGUEZ took the Top Scorer trophy.

All Stars Futsal Canadian Team -Second Place
USA National Futsal Team - Third Place
Brasil Futsal National Team - Fourth Place
New Brunswick Provincial Team - Fifth Place

MEN’S TOURNAMENT

The Men Canadian National Team, a team that recently participated in the World Games in Ciudad de Buga, Cali Colombia, played on this tournament against the Quebec East Provicial and Quebec West Provincial teams becoming the champion.

Canadian National Futsal Team - First Place
Quebec West Provincial Team - Second Place
Quebec East Provincial Team - Third Place

This Futsalon international tournament was officially opened on Friday September 6 at 7 PM and it was succesfully closed on Saturday September 7 close to midnight with the presentation of the awards to the champions and players giving a testimony of the growth that this sport is having nationally and internationally.




JUSTIN TV – FUTSALCA

It is important also to mention that the Canadian Futsalon Federation has its own internet TV Channel on Justin.TV and the tournament was broadcasted live to more tan 3,000 viewers worldwide.

This was a milestone for FUTSALCA and it demonstrates that the Canadian futsalon has fans around the world and also more people is becoming a fan in Canada.

Daniel Cerros, Canadian Futsalon Federación President and responsable for the organization of this event want to thanks to all the international teams and provincial teams that participated on this first international futsalon tournament in Canada and to the government offices that gave their support.

A special thanks to all volunteers for all their time and efforts that helped to make of this event a big success. This is the beggining of several more international activities that are planed for this and the next year.
