BORO ANNOUNCE VIKINGS PARTNERSHIP

Thursday, 26 January 2012 15:08
MIDDLESBROUGH Futsal Club and Australian based Vikings Futsal Association have agreed a partnership that will see the Vikings logo appear on the Boro strip until the end of 2012-2013.

The deal will see Vikings Futsal sponsor Middlesbrough until the end of next season, but it will also aim to build a long lasting relationship between the UK and Australia and all of the Vikings' other affiliate organisations around the world.

Formed in 1992 the Vikings are at the forefront of futsal management and development with over 200 centres across Australia and New Zealand and will offer their expertise and links to Middlesbrough Futsal Club to help develop the club and grow its Worldwide fan base.

Vikings CEO Alistair Miller stated, "this is a great relationship for both parties. For Middlesbrough it gives the support and backing of a worldwide group of futsal clubs and associations. For Vikings it gives players in Vikings clubs world wide the opportunity to compete in the English FA Futsal League."

"As part of the partnership we will see Vikings UK tours visit and compete against Middlesbrough and give Middlesbrough the opportunity to take part in Vikings tournaments all over the world. As a first step the April under 15 tour will visit Middlesbrough and compete in a tournament organised by the club and with former Vikings employee and international Corey Smith joining Middlesbrough in February, it will pave the way for future players to make the switch."

Boro chairman Damon Shaw is delighted to be working with Vikings.

"I've heard a lot about Vikings through Corey [Smith] and while I didn't meet Alistair at the infamous Manchester away game, he was suitably impressed by our set up and standard, including the fans and we got talking after that. He is keen to help Middlesbrough not only by helping us financially, but also to help us with development ideas and expertise."

"It could be the start of a fruitful relationship and I am very thankful that he has chosen to work with Middlesbrough and help us keep the club running beyond this season, but also helping us to lay foundations to grow the club massively in years to come."
